fresh tracks
It’s blizzarding here, just all of the sudden. Coming down in sheets, sheets that are sticking. A quarter inch in a quarter hour. So much so that we put on our boots and my new trapper hat and we repeated a summertime ritual, this time in the snow. A walk to Michigan, hushed at this hour, a loop around, all to ourselves. The lights still on. The snow coming in horizontal now. So much so that...
paper thin, but no other way
She holds sensation close to the surface; built to feel everything, to be awash in it.
She is delighted easily, moved easily, hurt easily, enamored easily. In love with minutes, moments. That is really all she is doing here. She harbors it all, the sensation of it all in a bloodstream that flows just under, just enough under to keep from falling out and over itself. To keep from a fully...

peaking early
Yesterday my sister Andrea turned 21.
She celebrated it in Napa drinking wine with my mom.
And then boarded a plane to Australia for a few weeks of travel with my parents and 5 months of study abroad down under.
I’m pretty sure it doesn’t get much better than that.
For the record, my 21st birthday was spent with my family at the lake on the 4th of July, and I drank my first...
Our friends at Apolis are at it again.
Vietnam this time.
Great clothes, great footage. Par for the course.
grazie!
…many thanks to my oh so thoughtful sister Natalie - wore it out last night and loved this!

seeing things: hubbard street dance at the art... →
I wish I had had my camera with me last night when I went over to the Art Institute to catch the second performance at the museum by the Hubbard Street Dance company after work.
Interesting concept: HSD chose 3 works of art throughout the museum - the Kallat installation on the grand staircase (which has a spectacular effect), Gauguin’s Tahitian paintings and Seurat’s La Grand Jatte,...
oh hello, mr president
So I thought it was a big deal when I saw Kate Winslet at our gym at The Peninsula about a month back…and then I thought it was a big deal a few weeks later when I saw Vince Vaughn leaving as well. You want motivation to go to the gym? Celebrity sightings. Now that’s a new one.
But tonight, tonight takes the cake. There is security beyond security at the front door, they warned us cryptically in...

My friend K is a lot of things - effortlessly chic, genuinely hilarious, an architect in the city here, and getting married soon to name a few - and to add to that she has also finally, finally started a blog! Not surprisingly it’s full of her gorgeous taste and impeccable eye for style, restaurants, interior design, art and architectural finds. As she would say, and I’m telling you...

Peshtemals [Turkish towels] sound awesome. From the etsy site: The peshtemal absorbs water as fast as a towel, dries very quickly, takes up less space and easy to carry and is therefore used as an alternative to the towel in bathrooms, pools, spas, beaches, sport facilities and for baby care. The peshtemal fabric is made of 100% cotton produced in hand-woven looms in...
on the road again
I’ve had a bit of a hiatus from the airport between the holidays and settling into the new job. But I’m getting my sea plane legs back again, it’s official.
With Midway on the horizon, last weekend we lived it up here, hanging with great friends at Le Colonial, drinking cocktails at The Drawing Room (delish!), we hosted brunch for our neighbors (the first time we’ve ever...

erehwyna:
“A true badass is an individual who stands up for what he believes in and challenges the status quo. And while Complex usually references sports figures, rappers, and other tough-guy types when talking about these kinds of individuals, badasses have been running the art world since the beginning of time. From artists who painted sexual deviants to those who planted the seeds of street...
